LRAC Announces Winners of Largest Grant Round in Organization’s History
In April, 2022, Lake Region Arts Council’s (LRAC) Board awarded 25 different organizations and individuals funding for the Legacy Organization and Individual Grant rounds. The total amount of funding awarded to organizations was $180,653, and $40,850 to individuals (finalized as of May 20, 2022).
This spring’s Legacy grant round was historic, marking both the largest pool of funds in a single grant round that LRAC has been able to offer, as well as the highest number of applicants for a grant round that the organization has ever had.
The funding for the Legacy Grant rounds comes from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund through the Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment.
The purpose of this fund is to increase Arts Access, Arts Learning and Arts and Cultural Heritage opportunities for all Minnesotans. Each grant application was thoroughly considered by LRAC’s Board on the basis of need for the project, merit and artistic quality, and the ability of the applicant to accomplish the project, and the projects awarded will take place over the coming year.
Congratulations to All Our Legacy Grant Awardees!
Awardees are individuals and organizations from LRAC’s nine-county region, and their projects will take place in communities including Morris, Dilworth, Fergus Falls, Pelican Rapids, Moorhead, Alexandria, Battle Lake, Detroit Lakes, Glenwood, and Ulen.
We had a very diverse group of applicants, and while not everyone was funded due to the competitiveness of the round, we are excited for the projects that this grant will make possible, including a trans-Atlantic choreography exchange between dancers in the LRAC region and Germany, a literary festival featuring five Native writers, the purchase of new art pieces to be made available to be checked out from a local library, big brass band swing dancing, and a myriad of other workshops, classes, performances, and more.
