Deborahmae Broad at her press.

She attends two national art fairs a year to show and sell her wood engravings and etchings. Deborahmae’s wood engravings are cut by hand in the traditional manner and are printed with screen printed colors on her lithographic press in her restored studio. She uses screen printed colors in her under the key plate in her etchings, and most of her wood engravings are large scale, rather than the typical small size of the medium.

Her chosen subjects are animals, mostly domestic. She has a strong interest in the emotional and social lives of animals, and their place in the world. She has worked in her studio on a 240- acre farm above the Wild Rice River near Twin Valley, MN since 2018. The granary/chicken house studio which was her studio for 23 years was also moved to the new property, where she actively farms as well as creates her art.
