Awards are made on the basis of commitment and potential for artistic development.

Available for students attending public, private, or home schools
Open only to individuals living within the LRAC 9-county region (Becker, Clay, Douglas, Grant, Otter Tail, Pope, Stevens, Traverse, and Wilkin)
Russ Peterson, Associate Professor at Concordia and Chloe Schindler, AMP grant recipient, discuss the positive benefits and personal growth of participants in the Arts Mentorship Program...
Chloe: “Even though I'm not planning on a career in music I still wanted to do the Arts Mentorship Program because I got to work with somebody whose skill level is way higher than mine, who has a lot more experience and I still care about the gift I've been given and musical ability and just the opportunity Lake Region Arts Council provides.”
Russ: “Being an arts mentor is really one of my favorite things about music. I've found that the Lake Region Arts Council students are very interested in learning and have a great attitude and they come prepared and they mean business.”
Chloe: “I learned a lot then I grew because my mentor, Russ Peterson, had me try new things and that was really good for me, just expanded my comfort zone and me as a person.”
Russ: “My goal for 15 hours of work with a student is different for each student. It really depends on what the student's passionate about and I think that's where good teachers can find what that student is interested in and help keep that spark alive or just really ignite the spark.”
Chloe: “I would recommend the Arts Mentorship Program to other students because it is an opportunity, like an amazing opportunity we have that not everybody has in their community and it does help you grow as a person and in your area that you choose.”
Russ: “I would definitely recommend the Arts Mentorship Program to all eligible students. I'm shocked and stunned that not more people take advantage of this amazing program. 15 hours of lessons paid for by Lake Region Arts Council, gets students together with qualified instructors to help them fine-tune their craft. I really admire this program and hope that more students that are eligible in this area take advantage of it.”
Rebecca at LRAC: “Call or email Lake Region Arts Council so we can get you started. It's the Arts Mentorship Program and we're looking forward to hearing from you.”
Chloe: “I really enjoyed it. I'm glad I did it.”
