Job Description: Executive Director, Lake Region Arts Council

This position is located in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, relocation or commute is required.

About Lake Region Arts Council (LRAC): LRAC is one of eleven regional arts councils in the Minnesota statewide arts system, working in partnership with the Minnesota State Arts Board to distribute funding from the MN State Legislature, MN Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund, and The McKnight Foundation. LRAC supports artists and arts organizations through grants and services in Becker, Clay, Grant, Otter Tail, Pope, Stevens, Traverse, and Wilkin Counties. The LRAC office is located in Fergus Falls, MN., and is governed by an 18-member Board. LRAC recruits, employs, trains, compensates and promotes regardless of national origin, race, color, creed, religion, disability, gender/gender identity, status with regard to public assistance, marital status, economic status or political affiliation.

Pay range: $72,000 - $88,000

Benefits: Paid vacation, sick leave, family medical leave, holidays, yearly $2,880 health reimbursement account that can be used for health insurance premiums or medical costs, retirement account.

Hours: Work week is Monday–Friday, including paid lunch hour. Currently, the position has the flexibility to work two days a week virtually. Every third Tuesday evening, the Executive Director participates in the monthly LRAC Board meeting. This is a salaried position, if the Executive Director works more than 40 in one week, comp time may be taken during the same pay period.

Skills/Requirements/Qualifications/Duties

-Guides and supports the team as they do the work of LRAC, including coordination of multiple programs, grant applications, processing, and administration.

-Advocate on behalf of the arts to civic, community, and governmental groups, including the Minnesota State Legislature.

-Prepare program and financial reports as required by or on the behalf of the LRAC to meet

standards of transparency, clarity and accountability to fulfill LRAC’s fiduciary responsibility to state and private funders.

-Lead the LRAC annual Needs Assessment to guide the design and development of programs and processes related to the needs of the artistic community and residents in the Lake Region.

-Develop and maintain constructive working relationships with diverse stakeholders, which may include some or all of the following: public funding agencies, legislators, professional artists, arts administrators, arts organization representatives, foundation representatives and arts consumers existing in the various socio-economic community levels.

-Organize systems, administer programs and lead teams, including the ability to delegate and follow up, to accomplish objectives within a realistic time schedule.
