Gallery History

The LRAC/McKnight Main Gallery is housed in the Historic River Inn in downtown Fergus Falls at 137 S. Mill St. Combining Art Deco and Renaissance Revival architecture styles, the Gallery provides an elegant and welcoming space for viewing art on exhibition or creating new art in a workshop.

Prior to 2010, the Gallery Space had been vacant. With funding from the McKnight Foundation, LRAC began a six month renovation of the space which included restoring the terrazzo marble floors, repainting and installing modern gallery lighting and hanging systems. The new gallery opened in January 2010 to enthusiastic reviews.

The LRAC/McKnight Gallery is proud to join other galleries in the region in offering a fine venue for exhibiting and viewing art. LRAC also maintains a smaller Solo Gallery featuring the work of one artist from the LRAC service area. This gallery has been in existence since 2000 and has been the showcase for numerous regional artists.
